2020-21 Annual Governor Impact Report
We are a hard working Governing Board with a variety of knowledge and skills to support leadership at Bracken Edge. The last year has been extremely challenging for lots of different ways but we have all pulled together and worked as a team quite remarkably. If you would like to read out impact report please click here.
Governing Board Behaviour Principes
Click here to see more about our principles which we ratified in February 2021
Principles
- Every pupil understands they have the right to feel safe, valued and respected, and learn free from the disruption of others.
- Bracken Edge Primary School is an inclusive school. All pupils, staff and visitors are free from any form of discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct that is prohibited by or under the Equality Act 2010.
- It is expected that all adults – staff, volunteers and governors – will set excellent examples to the children at all times.
- High standards of behaviour are expected. The school rules should be displayed around school and applied consistently by all staff. Children will know the rules and be involved in their development.
- The school’s Relationship, Behaviour & Discipline Policy will ensure that there are measures to encourage good behaviour, self-discipline and respect, and prevent all forms of bullying amongst pupils. This will also apply to pupils if they are using the school’s online platform to complete work at home or to participate in ‘live’ online lessons. The behaviour policy also provides guidance on the use of reasonable force.
- Stages for addressing unwanted behaviours will be known and understood by all pupils and staff. These will be applied fairly and consistently, taking into account special educational needs and disability and the needs of vulnerable children. Sanctions will be monitored to ensure effective impact.
- Children will be helped to understand and take responsibility for their actions.
- The Relationship, Behaviour & Discipline policy is shared and understood by pupils, staff and parents.
- The exclusions policy explains that exclusions will only be used as a last resort, and outlines the processes involved in permanent and fixed-term exclusions.
- Families are involved in behaviour incidents to foster good relationships between the school and pupils’ home life. If there are significant concerns about a child’s behaviour then the school will seek advice and support from appropriate outside agencies.
- The governing board also emphasises that violence or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated in any circumstances.
