At Bracken Edge Primary School we are committed to safeguarding, and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of all our children and adults.
We believe that school should be a place where children feel safe, valued and listened to. We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable which can impact on other children either directly or indirectly. We always take a considered and sensitive approach so that we can support all of our children and families.
Everyone working in our school has the responsibility and understands their roles and duties in the effective safeguarding and protection of every child in our care. We aim to identify children and young people who are suffering or likely to suffer from significant harm, and take appropriate action with the aim of making sure they are kept safe both at school and home. Our priority is to provide a safe environment for children and young people, enabling them to learn develop to their fullest potential.
Our senior designated member of staff for child protection is Mrs Colette Kurylo (Guidance and Support Strategic Lead). She works alongside two other child protection designated staff, Mrs Jane Lunn (Family Support Worker) and Miss Chelle Wilkinson (Family Support Worker)
Designated staff are responsible for ensuring that:
- timely and appropriate safeguarding action is taken where necessary, following local and national policy and procedure;
- staff at Bracken Edge are equipped with the necessary training and development;
- robust systems are in place for recording and safely sharing information.
